Sterling 62040100-0 Advantage Shower Kit 60" x 34" x 76", White

My wife is getting a little handicapped so I thought it may be best change out the tub for a 60 inch shower enclosure. We have a tub-shower enclosure in another bathroom anyway so I can soak if I want. I saw a product like this in Billings, Montana but a seat at just one end and I loved it. It was offered at their big box home center, but when I went to our local big box home center, they offered only a 48 inch shower, and they were the same company as the one in Montana. They probably could have special ordered it, but I did not find it through that company's Internet site either. In desperation I did an Internet search. I found nothing in the price range that I liked it at first, but about 18 months later, I ran across this site. They had what I was looking for, and even better because it had a seat at both ends. The best part is I saved over $100 getting it through this Internet site compared with the price offered at the Montana big box store even considering shipping which is costly for an item this big. It installed easily and looks great. I did not even have to tear out the old finished walls. I only cut them back about one and one half inches and the new shower slipped right in. I got some white prefinished colonial case molding and surrounded the shower with that to give a finished look. That made it a very cheap installation and it looks great. We also loved the tile look of it. My wife loves the fact that she does not have to step over the bathtub ledge anymore. My only reservation is my wife told me that shower is hers and I have to continue to use the tub in the other bathroom. We'll work it out. I have faith. Anyway it looks great and the sidewalls are not as flimsy as the old one piece tub and shower surround were. It is a great buy.

I saw a product like this while on vacation in Montana in 2010 at the [@]. I thought I would visit my local [@] and buy that but alas, it was not in their store in my city. They probably could have ordered it but I did not inquire. This year with my wife's mobility problems, I thought I would try to find the product, and Plumbersurplus.com had it for a price after shipping that could not be beat. I love the shower. It is very attractive and a whole lot cheaper than a walk-in bath tub. My wife was not interested in soaking or the whirlpool of a walk-in tub, so the shower was great for her. She does not have to climb over the ledge of the old tub anymore. The shower was relatively easy to install where my old one-piece tub / shower combo was. It was a bit of a challenge for a do it yourselfer to install a new 2 inch drain pipe. The new shower has a center drain location and requires a 2 inch drain pipe. The old tub was an end drain and took a 1 1/2 inch pipe. But it was not hard, just a bit time consuming to install a solvent weld PVC drain pipe to rough in specs accurately. But now that it is in, my wife has taken her first shower in it and loves it.
