5/5 StarsLittle Giant 5-ASP (5050300) Submersible Utility Pump w/Piggyback Diaphram switch, 115V, 1/6 HP, 10; cord | We have this little pump installed under our basement floor since our 2 storey house was built in 1990 which is over 22 years now and still working very well, no maintenance and I'm planning to replace it with a new one, the same brand and model. Who knows it may retire soon and I don't know how many more years it would last.

5/5 StarsBest sump pump for small areas going | We use the Little Giant as the main source to recirculate dirty water back to a filtration unit for our EDM machines.

4/5 StarsPowerful and almost perfect | My 400 sq crawlspace under townhouse has low water table and gets a lot of run off- wet insulation and mold started to be a problem. Neighbor had one of the toggle pumps installed which clogged and his lowest set ball still meant very high standing water. I chose little giant because the tec assured me it would pump to very low level. IT DOES but not on automatic. On automatic it pumps to 6-7 inches so it still leaves too much standing water. That is acceptable if the pump is set low enough so the container lid is level with your crawlspace floor. I have installed it jan 2011 so cannot report about durability. I like the non toggle design - much less prone to failure. Overall still the best pump for wet crawlspaces in my op. The pump is small and has a long cord plus good lift. Installation a no brainer. Works with pipe and also garden hose.

4/5 StarsA pump for Aruba | The perfect pump to keep the pool level constant during rainy season here in Aruba !

5/5 StarsHigh quality and very dependable | This product really is a little giant. I use this pump to supplement water control in a sump area behind my basement wall. This pump has lasted longer than any others that I've tried. It was easy to install. It is tough and durable. It has helped keep my basement dry for the duration of my ownership of this product. The pumps are a tad on the pricey side, but the quality is first rate. You might pay a bit less for a different brand, but you're very likely to suffer the consequences in the long run. This pump is a great one, and that's the bottom line.

4/5 StarsGreat Price | this pump was exactly what we need to keep the water from becoming a problem in our basement after heavy rains

5/5 StarsA real life saver | I am a senior citizen with health problems. My basement sewer filled with roots, and the basement was filling with water from melting snow & rain. I was bailing with a coffee can & bucket to try to save my furnace and water heater when The Little Giant pump came to my rescue, repeatedly and dependably, automatically pumped the water to the lawn outside. It easily attached to the garden hose, which I put through the dryer vent, but will make a permanent exit for it soon, because it seems an excellent quality pump which should last indefinitely.

5/5 StarsEffective & Quiet Pump - pumps to | Little Giant Customer Support LISTENED to how the pump would be used. Then they recommended the 5-ASP-LL over a more expensive model that I had chosen. They gave me all the reasons. CALL THEM!!!I'm using the 5 to dewater groundwater passing under the house. This pump leaves less than 1/2" water in the pit / sump, minimizing the moisture under the house. Only problem: I had to add a check valve after the initial installation. The water in the discharge pipe siphoned back into the pit, which made the pump restart. If you have over 10' of pipe (regardless of orientation) - don't think about it, just install a check valve. Less than [$]. As for durability - too soon to tell in this installation, but I've seen Little Giants in commercial applications where they have worked great for many years. (Often no one remembers when they were installed; just clean out the system and put them back to work.)

Q:The diaphragm switch make the pump automatically turn off and on due to demand of rising water?Jim | Friday, September 21, 2012
Know the answer? Sign in to answer this question.
Yes, this is correct. As the water rises it increases the pressure on the switch which controls the pump turning on and off.
