4/5 StarsStandard HPS bulb should work | Josh - are you sure the bulb is what failed?

I have several of these units. I have replaced the bulbs in two (after a couple of years of 12hour/day service) with standard off-the-shelf 50Watt HPS bulbs.

I have found that if the unit is installed in such a way that water or insects can enter from rear, unit will eventually fail.

My only complaints about these units are that
(1) replacing the bulb can be a pain - the lexan cover can be hard to get back into its track, (2) the fact that the plastic housing has openings on the back means that quality of install is critical for long-life, (3) wiring with EMT - entering at bottom - is a real pain - not sure they really mean for this unit to be wired in this manner.
Recommended? Yes.
1/5 StarsGreat Light, but no replacement bulbs!!! | Installs easily, works great... until the lamp burns out. Then you can't find a replacement bulb anywhere, even though they're still selling the fixture! The bulb is not even listed on the Lights of America website, but the fixture is. I tried using a "generic" 50W High Pressure Sodium Bulb from [...], but it won't work.
Recommended? No.
