Kohler GP84995 Flapper Assembly, Red

I have a Kohler toilet (I forget the exact model name but it took me some time and research to figure it out since it wasn't stamped underneath the cover) and it was leaking for the longest time. The flapper did not fully seat itself on top of the hole and I would hear my toilet constantly refill itself every few hours. It was driving me nuts. I went to Home Depot and Lowes and didn't realize you needed a special flapper to fit the stupid rectangular Kohler requirements. Anyway after many failed attempts, I went home, went online, did a bit of research, found out others were having the same problem and then finally someone recommended this assembly.

Let me tell you, it works. You need to make sure that the black bar in the back slides in tight first and then attach the plastic arms to it. Then you need to make sure you adjust the chain so that there is just enough slack and not too much. But in the end it works and my toilet no longer leaks. This was a few months battle that I finally won.

I ordered this product based on comments and reviews by many others with my same problem - -Rialto toilet that doesn't stop running. I read the tips/hints on this website and others and was able to avoid the pitfalls of others. I have 3 Rialto toilets purchased in 2004 and all were leaking. After getting a water bill that was twice what it should have been and calling the water company, I couldn't believe that this toilet issue could be problem. I ordered this part and replaced all three toilets in 15 minutes.

I bought this flapper to replace a Corky flapper that occasionally wouldn't seat corectly, causing the toilet to run continuously. Its been installed for 5 weeks now on my Rosario K3434FB manufactured in February of 2001, and so far has worked flawlessly. I agree with one of the other reviewers that Kohler should probably redesign the product to make a slightly wider sealing rim on the flapper, but so far it has always seated properly. Two other reviewers said they had to file the bar down to fit in the pivot groove. It's possible they tried to install it by snapping it into the groove instead of first removing the rubber flapper from the pivot bar, threading the bar through the grove from one end, and then reattaching the flapper. I'm very happy with my dealing with PumberSurplus. I can't believe how inexpensive the total shipped price was for a new original Kohler part. I did notice that the package had an old sticker that had been removed, indicating the product had likely been sitting on some retailers shelf before being acquired by PlumberSurplus, but I guess that fits their name.

This original OEM part works far better than the aftermarket unit that I had purchased from [@] and it costs less if you buy it from PlumberSurplus.

8 year old flappers not seating well. Picked these up as OEM replacements. No issues with strut fitting in groove of my model (Kohler Raphael) as others have reported. Open lid, pull off old flapper, snap in new flapper, and reattach chain to same link as before. Takes < 5 minutes

have a leaking Rialto and hoped this manufacturer flapper would seal better than the corky replacement, but it's basically the same, doesn't seal well; after pulling on it and stretching it for a week after every flush, it seems to have stopped leaking. Kohler needs to re-design this part for a better fit.

The bar that connects the back part of the flapper is too thick to fit into the groove that holds this bar. I have to file it down to fit into the groove.

Installed in minutes, saved me a trip to the store

This is really more about PlumberSurplus than the part: the part is simply the manufacturer's original part--ours started leaking after being unused for six months. PlumberSurprice had the part at a far lower price than anyone else, and it came immediately. I've bought a few things from them in the past, but will look to them first now.

Perfect for my repair project

This was the best price I found on the web. Much lower than anywhere else. As for the piece itself, we have an older toilet, so my husband did have to do an adjustment the thin plastic "bar". It was thicker on the new piece. He shaved it down and it works perfectly.
