2/5 Starspoor quality | I purchased the first from Mills Fleet farm in Oakdale, MN in Nov 2012. It worked fine at first but failed after about 3 weeks by constantly tripping the ground fault interrupter. I had outdoor lights on the same outlet and needed to unplug the heater to get them to work. I figured that stuff happens - that this failure was a fluke. I tried to get a replacement at Mills Fleet farm but they were out of stock and the mfg couldn't say when they would get more so I returned it for a refund. I then bought one on line from Amazon. This one also worked fine for about 3 to 4 weeks, then this one failed too. This one didn't trip the GFI, it just quit heating. The manufacture told me on the phone they had been having issues but that they fixed the problem and replaced the second failed unit. I received it in March 2013 to replace the 2nd failed unit. It worked fine for the two weeks it was used last spring. This unit was put back into service for the season in December of 2013. About 2 weeks later it failed - kept tripping the ground fault interrupter. I now have experienced 3 failed units in less than 6 months of use. I am using it in a relatively dry environment – its not even submerged in water. I placed the heater in a cutout and set the watering container for the chickens on top of each. I called Allied precision in mid December 2013 and they said they would replace the failed unit (again). As of Jan 8 I have not received the replacement. I have called and left messages for them to call me with a status of the replacement, but they are not returning calls. This product has serious quality issues.
