Metal, Escutcheons & Flanges
An escutcheon is used to cover a gap between a penetrating pipe or control valve, and the finished wall surface from which it protrudes. Escutcheons are also used as a back plate or to add ornamental decoration to the look of the shower or faucet. A flange can also be a plate or ring to form a rim at the end of a pipe when fastened to the pipe (for example, a closet flange). Escutcheon and Flanges come in many sizes and shapes and are made by manufacturers such as Moen, Kohler, American Standard and Grohe.
